KIM WHYTE

I teach in North West London, ten minutes north by tube or bus of Paddington.
I generally accompany students and am able to  tranpose many pieces into suitable keys for individual voices and  can often play more popular music from memory. I am  an experienced teacher of individuals and groups  and happily work with beginners to advanced singers in all styles. I have a teaching qualification and a certificate in Humanistic Counselling.
The fee is £30 per hour.

After years of searching for understanding of vocal  technique, my discovery of the information contained in the websites of David Jones and  Cathy Pope proved to be a revelatory experience. I was struck not only by their wealth of knowledge but also
the extraordinary generosity with which they freely offered this invaluable knowledge to all inquirers. The  articles were so comprehensive in their detail and the writers’ joy in their discipline so transparent , I rose from the computer with  a certainty that my singing and  teaching  skills were on the brink of transformation_ so it has proven.
Being involved with the  Long  established  tradition of the Swedish -Italian  School of Singing, a of excellence and understanding  is a privilege.
There is a vital need for humanity , humour and also  humility in the art of vocal tuition, which by its nature is a frequently frustrating and emotionally revealing (frighteningly so ) process. Apart from performing myself I have taught many students, some of whom have been nervous beginners. I have also worked with Special Needs students, the very  young and the very elderly the  talented and the untalented.  Regardless of their abilities musical, intellectual or otherwise, the impact that Singing , taught with care and respect, can exert on people’s lives  can never be underestimated. The prospect of   continuing to study and to teach with the confidence  and artistry that this tradition imparts is  an exhilarating prospect.
